Intense Pulse Light Therapy

Intense Pulse Light Therapy is an aesthetic treatment used for skin rejuvenation, hair reduction, acne photo clearance, vascular lesions such as rosacea or spider veins, and pigmented lesions of aging. The light travels through the skin at selected wavelength then, is converted to heat energy which coagulates the desired target. It does not penetrate deep enough to cause thermal damage to the skin however, there are potential risks such as skin pigmentation, and rarely, scarring at the treatment site.

A photofacial with IPL is a rejuvenating skin treatment for women and men with wrinkles or skin hyperpigmentation concerns in their neck or face. A photofacial even though is not a laser treatment, stimulates collagen production and improves your skin tone and complexion. An IPL photofacial session takes about 20 to 30 minutes and has minimal to no downtime. The treatment is performed using a handheld wand that will pass over the skin while emitting intense pulsed light pulses. Some patients may have minor skin redness that usually fades in a few hours. Over the next 2 to 5 days post-treatment, the blemishes under your skin will rise to the surface layers, then start to flake away. Patients should use sunscreen for about one week and avoid picking at the flaking skin.

Patients with skin issues such as brown spots, rosacea, melasma, vascular lesions, redness, visible pores, and sun damage spots will benefit from IPL therapy, with minimal to no recovery time. Based on the patient’s skin type and procedure to be performed, a filter with a specific wavelength is selected. The treatment plan consists of 4 to 6 sessions at 4 weeks intervals in order to provide gradual and natural improvement.
