Common methods of reducing a large earlobe include simple “V” wedge resection, or an inferior lobe border reduction. The technique used, largely depends on what type of deformity exists. A wide earlobe may be treated with a simple wedge, while a lobe with vertical excess may be best treated with an inferior reduction.
Earlobes repair, torn earlobes can result from a gradual stretching from heavy earrings or from trauma by tearing the lobe. Earlobe tears can be partial, complete and multiple. Regardless of the cause of the tear, the treatment is consistent and includes excising the scar then closing the skin. Earlobe repair is performed with local anesthesia and takes about 20 minutes per ear.
The last generations have embraced body art, including tattoos, body piercing, and dilated earlobes. In the consideration of repairing dilated earlobes, the expansion can shrink considerably if the hardware is discontinued for several months. This shrinkage will facilitate the repair.
