Bra Line Lift & Low Back Lift

Women who lose weight may find that while they love their new figure, they still have trouble spots on the body that cannot be corrected with diet exercise or even liposuction. For many of these patients, this involves the upper, mid and low back. They are usually referred as “back rolls, weight loss or liposuction can leave droopy folds of excess skin that bulges and hangs above or below the bra line. For this reason, many patients want to have a back lift (also known as back tuck). This procedure trims away and removes the hanging skin on the upper back and on the sides of the chest. The results is a toned, smooth back appearance.

The back lift can produce a slimmer, more defined contour of the back. This procedure may be performed as either low back lift or upper back lift and is able to produce dramatic contour changes in the patient’s shape. The lower back lift is often performed as part of the lower body lift; however, these techniques can be performed on their own as well. With the upper back lift, excess of fat and skin are removed from the upper back and from beneath the bra line area. The lower back lift removes excess skin and fat from the lower back. These procedures can produce dramatic results that are simply not attainable with other technique. Scarring is definitively a part of these procedures, the incision for the upper back lift is hidden in the armpit and under the bra which is worn during the marking phase. This allows the scar to be concealed by the bra. For the lower back lift, the incision runs across the back above the buttocks, allowing for the creation of a natural slim waist.

We perform these procedures in our cosmetic center with local anesthesia and mild sedation. Each procedure takes about two to three hours to complete. Following the surgery patients may experience some degree of swelling, bruising and discomfort for one to two weeks. Most patients can return to work within five to seven days. However full recovery and return to more strenuous activities may take four to six weeks.  Call us to schedule a complimentary consultation.
